Youth Symposium with Clarkston Coalition For Youth!

On April 4-5 I attended the Youth Symposioum for the Coalition for Youth. I am a second year member and student representative on the Executive Board of the Clarkston Coalition for Youth ~ CCFY!! This is an organization that is community service based with many business people from our community on the Board. We meet once a month and work together to bring fun events, education, and services to the residents of Clarkston. It has been a pleasure to serve on this committee and I hope to continue during my Senior year of high school and beyond!

The Youth Symposioum had all students in the surrounding school districts come together to share our ideas take back to our own local towns. I roomed with Kelly Hyer, our acting President! She is sooooooo nice and works really hard to bring great things to Clarkston!

There were many different topics that were covered over the weekend which included leadership, how to recruit new members and ideas to use in our own Coalition. I learned a ton and found everything to be useful information. Each school made a poster or large trifold covered with information about their community and we had one too. This was also the time we could "steal" (not really, more like trade) others districts goodies (like mugs, pencils, key chains, etc.) I was very happy to represent to Clarkston at this Symposium and plan to attend next year!
